Too many girls miss school and sports because of period poverty, losing opportunities to learn, play, and thrive. Through HMI, we ensure girls stay in school with dignity and confidence, breaking the cycle of poverty and building futures filled with possibility.
We also provide underprivileged children with school shoes, a simple yet profound gift that enables them to walk to school with dignity and comfort, so that they can focus on learning rather than the hardship of bare feet.

Our inspirational Founder
Prof. Hlengani Mathebula
Prof. Mathebula is a respected leader with over four decades of impactful service in business and finance, including leadership at the South African Reserve Bank,First National Bank, ABSA Private Bank, Nedbank, SARS and board membership of Eskom Pension and Provident Fund, BMW SA Group, Shoprite- Checkers, BrandSA, MDDA, HPCSA and co-founding the Ignite Africa Advisory Group.
His personal act of defiance – running the Comrades Marathon in a Xibelani, inspires HMI’s commitment to cultural pride, dignity, and challenging outdated norms.
As Chairman of HMI, Prof. Mathebula ensures transparency and accountability in utilisation of all donations, with a dedicated team providing regular updates to donors so you see the meaningful difference your contributions make.
